03 Jul New Treatment - Amma Fusion Massage

Amma Fusion uses an exciting blend of the most effective Eastern massage techniques, drawing from disciplines such as acupressure, table shiatsu, thai massage and tuina. The use of specialised strokes, gentle yet powerful stretching, and the treatment of key acupressure points, can increase overall health and vitality. Utilising the Eastern model of meridians, Amma Fusion has similarities with acupuncture but uses the firm gentle pressure of the hands (and no needles)!

Amma has been used successfuly to treat conditions such as:

  • migraines
  • colds
  • disturbed sleep
  • neck and back pain
  • sinus problems
  • digestive complaints
  • chronic fatigue

This treatment is administered with the client fully clothed, so it is an excellent introduction to massage for those with no previous experience.

The treatment is priced at £35 for an hour and £50 for 90 minutes. And don’t forget to ask for a £5 discount on your first treatment with Hilda during July and August.

03 Jul Introducing Hilda

Hilda Harvey joins us in July. She will be working every Friday and one Saturday a month (unless we let her have a holiday)!

Hilda is a registered nurse, and is highly qualified in advanced massage techniques, having trained at the prestigious Northern Institute of Massage, with Tracey at Jing Advanced Massage in Brighton, and latterly with James Waslaski and Dan Putman, international teachers from the United States. Hilda is also a highly skilled and experienced furniture maker.

Hilda brings additional and complementary skills to the Real Retreat team, offering treatment with a multidisciplinary approach using different techniques learned from various sources. These include functional assessment, myofascial release (MFR), neuromuscular therapy (NMT), scar tissue mobilisation, advanced stretching, and soft tissue release (STR). The combination of techniques will lead to freedom of movement and release from pain. Myofascial Release (MFR) can also be applied in cases of Chronic Fatigue, Fibromyalgia and ME, where other massage techniques are not suitable. Hilda is also trained in Hot Stone Fusion and Amma Fusion, two advanced techniques which add greatly to her skillset.
